I guess it's commendable that Amazon has such a strong online community which is policing their forums independently. They apparently have a strict "no commercial posts" policy, of which I was unaware. It's found in the Guidelines link when you go to make your post. Seems like they would want to make it a bit more obvious than that, but judging from the lack of posts like mine, it seems to be perfectly understood by everyone that isn't me. Or maybe all the other posts have been deleted, as I am attempting to have done.
I mostly bringit up because I think it's kind of interesting how much negative the comments on the thread were. I guess that forum was/is an oasis in a sea of spam-filled message boards and fake viral marketing. I know I posted my game to another development SDK's "upcoming games" forum and the these got locked and I received a PM from the admin saying how I wasn't allowed to post there. Perfectly fine with me, but as I replied, if they make it very clear that posted like mine aren't allowed, I wouldn't have wasted my time and theirs.
I think that's the proverbial kernel that's stuck in my teeth at the moment. I had to waste a good 45 minutes posting to the forum, hearing about and trying to figure out what I did wrong, the best way to correct it, and apologizing for being wrong in the first place. I would have much rather not even wasted my time posting to that forum in the first place. I'm not saying I'm right for not following the rules. I'm saying I wish the rules were a bit more obvious.
